ADDA1205SX

Ultraview Corporation

The ADDA1205SX is a complete high speed data acquisition and controlsystem on a single SBus card. The board is designed for high speedoperation for scientific, medical and industrial applications. Itcontains one 12-bit A/D converter and one 12-bit D/A converter, and 4million 16-bit words (8 Mb) of dual-ported shared memory. Both convertersare capable of operating simultaneously at up to 5 megasamples per secondeach. One A/D channel can be sampled at a time, out of a total of up tofour input channels. Sampling is controlled by a high speed automatictimebase which is software settable in increments of 100ns.Features of the ADDA1205SX include:data streams without CPU intervention.sampling rate. The ADDA1205SX is a complete high-speed data acquisition and controlsystem on a single SBus card. It is designed for high-frequency, low-jitter operation as required for scientific, medical, and industrialapplications. The Board functions in any SBus-based system using theUltraview supplied drivers for Solaris 2.x or, alternatively, the boardsmay be accessed directly by a user program. In addition to the board's ultra-fast 5 MHz 12-bit A/D and D/Aconverters, the board has 4 parallel TTL inputs and 4 parallel TTLoutputs which can acquire and output digital data at the full samplingrate, concurrently with each A/D sample. These high-speed TTL digitalI/O vectors are unique to the Ultraview board, allowing dynamic controlof scientific or industrial apparati while analog data is being acquiredor outputted, and refreshing these vectors on every sample. All A/D,D/A, and TTL I/O vectors are automatically and simultaneously transferredinto and out of a huge 8-Megabyte dual-ported onboard RAM.To operate the board, only one control register needs to be programmed. The start of conversion can also be triggered by an external signal. When the user sets the GO bit is this register, the board automaticallyand continuously converts a string of samples. Samples from the A/Dconverters and TTL inputs automatically appear sequentially in the dual-ported memory, and D/A and TTL outputs are also simultaneously updatedfrom a different region of the dual-ported memory. The shared (dual-ported) RAM that holds the data for A/D and D/Aconversions is memory-mapped, and can be accessed easily by just readingor writing longwords from the desired locations. All boards are supplied with a device driver and various sampledemonstration programs for Solaris 2.3 and up.Additionally, a set of user-direct sample programs are supplied whichallow operation under SunOS 4.1.x and Solaris 2.x operating systemversions. All software is supplied in source (C language) as well asexecutable form.
